Summer House for sale

Don’t Be Scared to Sell in the Summer

Summer has historically been seen as a “low season” season for selling homes, but sellers should be aware that summer is not necessarily a bad time to list your home! In reality, summer can be a very busy time for house sales for a number of reasons.

Your house looks great!  Your garden is in bloom, your neighbour’s lawn is maintained, and the trees on the street are alive and welcoming. Spend some time weeding the garden, cutting the lawn, cleaning the driveway and your house will look significantly more welcoming that it might in the dead of winter. Plus, the sun’s out which naturally tends to put people into a better mood.

Often, buyers who are looking in the summer are extremely serious about finding a home, making an offer, and getting settled in before the winter hits. A large number of summer buyers actually take vacation time off of work specifically to go house hunting.

Don’t be concerned about tire-kickers and casual lookers wasting your time: those people are busy down at the beach enjoying the sun while it’s still around. Summer is the season of serious home buyers, who are often trying to avoid the peak seasons of the house sales market.
