Hope is a district municipality of 6,686 people at the eastern end of the Fraser Valley, where the Trans-Canada, Crowsnest and Coquihalla highways meet. It is the last town before the mountains and the gateway to the Fraser Canyon, which makes it a base for people who work in the valley but want a detached house at the lowest prices on this site. Most listings are houses on the flat land between the Fraser and Coquihalla rivers, with some condos and manufactured homes. Kawkawa Lake, a few minutes from downtown, is a small lakefront community; Sunshine Valley to the east and Laidlaw and Yale along the highways are the rural and recreational areas that EstateBlock lists separately. Hope is about 150 kilometres from Vancouver, two hours by car, and has no rail service.
